Pike's Peek Results

Pike's Peek Results are in! (They have it separated by M/F)

BIG day for Brennan Feldhausen, who ran his 2nd and 3rd fastest 5k's of all time en route to a monster personal best of 32:59 (27th place). Brennan's previous fastest 10k was a 35:13 from Leesburg 10k in August of 2009. A couple of years ago, I ran with Chrissie Ramsey as she finished 5th in 36:17. This year she finished 7th - but in an incredible 34:52! Easily breaks her own team record. Great job Brennan and Chrissie - those are some serious times results!

Kris Simms' blazed the wind-aided 2011 race to the tune of a 35:08, so was disappointed to not have "it" today. He managed to come through in 36:14, so really not that bad. Becky Parks had a great race as well, splitting 5k in a new PR (18:50), and holding on to finish at 38:12, a full minute and change faster than her 2011 race. Denise Knickman has gone really fast here before, so her 39:29 seems pretty average, but considering just last week she won a 5k in "only" 19:55, running faster than that twice-over seems like progress! Two of the day's big champions were Sam Wollner and Christa Wagner. Sam wasn't sure what he was capable of running, but thought 6:30s was reasonable, and Christa, who wasn't sure if she was going to run today, was hoping for about the same, so the two ran close together, and caught up to Big D, running amazingly even splits in the 6:20-22 range for the entire race. Christa's 5k split of 19:38 is "probably a 5k PR." Sam used that blazing downhill mile speed to run 1:04 for the last 0.2, narrowly missing a sub 39 minute time (39:02). Christa ran a near 6-minute PR (soft, admittedly) as she cruised in at 39:42. Really, really awesome!

Our local friends fared well (of the ones who I know):

GRC (men)

Dusen (13th, think first white guy) 30:05
Klim 31:32
Wertz 31:58
Dickson 32:31
Bain 32:48
PMurph 33:23
Tender 35:04

Jordan Zwick, formerly of New Balance, who ran with us that one night at TNT, ran 30:53, and Carlos RENJIFO ran yet another PR, finishing at 31:47, and then running 6.2 miles back to the cars with us, uphill into the wind, holding his bag of stuff.

GRC (women)

O'Hara 35:51
Donaldson 35:54
Young 36:11
Hendrick 36:23
Laseter 37:44

Special recognition goes to Brennan, Kris, and Carlos for being the first finishers in the Pike's Peek Double (running back to the start from the finish). They passed these two dudes who were really hurting in the last half mile. On our way out, we did see NBP running back up, solo, so props to her for doing the Double by herself!

Yesterday in track action, Brian Leiter beat all-comers in the 800m (1:51.78) at the Paul Kaiser Classic at Shippensburg. Chris Snyder was 13th in 1:56.72. GRC's Chuck Kascur ran 1:55.

From Sunday...

Meg McNew scored another payday at the Iron Girl Half in Columbia...looks like Mike Mashner won the Mulligan Metric Marathon...Lee DiPietro won the Maryland Workers' Memorial 5k...Andy Thivierge was 4th at Port to Fort, BOBBY VAN ALLEN ran it...and just in: Steve Febish ran 2:53:55 at the Eugene Marathon!
