Thirsty Dog

http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/entertainment/midnight_sun/blog/2009/03/admirals_cup_could_become_pub.html#more

Oh yeah - Thirsty Dog (that's right, we old folks of Baltimore don't refer to it as Pub Dog or whatever they want to call it) is coming to Fells Point.

I no longer have any reason to be in Federal Hill anymore. Thanks for the memories, it's been a wild 7 years. Haha. Credit for finding the article goes to Emily.

i remember when I USED to like that place...good pizza, decent beer and dog-friendly. Now it sucks. Iggie's replaces all my dog-friendly, good pizza needs and I can bring whatever beer I want cause its BYOB. so HA!

I rememeber when Iggie's pizza tasted like dog shit...oh wait, that was true the first time I went and any other time I've been forced against my will to go there.

I actually hated the fact dogs were allowed in Thirsty Dog, because when it got crowded it was a nuisance. Plus, dogs hate black people (which was a good deterrant, if that was their plan) but they would always bite at Terence.

Also, dogs will go crazy if they're scared or hungry and I don't need that while I'm trying to eat dinner.

BUT I did get a chance to try the Abbey Burger Bistro on Cross St yesterday and it's pretty delicious, and a really nice place. Much better than Sky Lounge, which was previously there.

Thirsty dog was not a conducive environment for dogs. The dogs get irritable there cause they hate the ambience and cramped spaces.

You're opinion on pizza is bizarre to say the least. what did you get there that you didn't like? The dogs that have been at Iggies have not been crazy or misbehaved anytime I have been there. The clientel know to bring pooches that are well behaved as opposed to fed hill douches who go out with their racist dogs that attack poor T. He will need to work on exuding love and compassion for dogs so they will not be intimidated by his alpha maleness.

I want to try a burger from Abbey. I read good reviews. Please give Iggies another change :(

I have settled now. Sorry for the finger pointing. I am very passionate about my pizza and dogs as you can tell.

I feel like the burger to bun ratio is inappropriate at Abbey Burger. It's too high of a patty. I can't get a decent bite with everything on

Dr. J, I know nothing of the dog experience at Iggie's. Just the shitty pizza experience. Doesn't matter what I get. The pizza is too pretentious for me. Just give me a simple pie, that tastes good plain or with some normal toppings. Not foie gras or duck or lamb. In general, though, you know I am not a fan of that part of town or what it offers on a food front.

I did, however, enjoy the time I went to that place with Ben and Kendra, because the waitress was cute and I think I could/should have hollered.

Jen, when has more meat ever been a problem? Sometimes it just doesn't fit between the buns. It's a tight fit, and can get sloppy, but damn does it feel good going down.

The burgers at Abbey Bistro are good, but the beer is amazing. I recommend La Chouffe- well worth a headache the next morning (which can probably be avoided if you don't order 3 of them)

Ryan.

How can you generalize "the food in that part of town" WTF.

a said...

Dr. J, really? Of all the people, places, animals, crimes, cities, athletes, sexual orientations, sports teams, restaurants, jobs, counties, drugs, sexual positions, genders, cars, ages, music, activities, neighborhoods, religions, cultures, languages, interests, countries, words, sauces, bars, bikes, conversations, and abilities Ryan has generalized in the time I've know him you chose *pizza* as the one to call him out on?

On request I can provide examples of any of the above.

1. I'm surprised to hear that Chrissie has been to Abbey Bistro, particularly before I made it out there. Mostly because I haven't seen her in months, and also because I never hear of her going to Fed Hill. Also because I have never seen her eat a burger.

2. Whatever, I "generally" don't care for Mt. Vernon or what we would consider "downtown" Baltimore, but you all know that and know the reasons why. And do I not still suck it up from time to time to go to Brewer's Art? Nobody sucks it up to go to Excape or Crazy Russian with me...

I'll go to crazy russian. It's midtown not downtown

RM said...

In order for us to have any of those sections we need to be bigger I think. We don't really have an uptown, so there can be no midtown.

Dr. J - do you know of the Crazy Russian??

Ryan, let's kill 3 birds with one stone. Burgers at Abbey Bistro after fed hill runners on monday?

Rebs said...

yes. I know the crazy russian very well...in fact i once was a crazy russian.

Dr. J, you were a dancer at the Crazy Russian??

Chrissie - I'll let you know this weekend. I've been running down to Fed Hill lately so I'd have to adjust.
