Ulman Cancer Fund to Host Columbia Triathlon

As this impacts a number of our multisport athletes, just wanted to give a quick update on the situation with Columbia Triathlon:

The race, scheduled for Sunday, May 18, will go on as planned. Ulman Cancer Fund will be the acting race organizer, having acquired both the Columbia Triathlon and Iron Girl Columbia races after the dissolution of Columbia Triathlon Association.

Many of the other events that CTA previously put on, including Eagleman and Chespeakeman, were acquired by World Triathlon Corporation, which is the company that owns the Ironman brand. The Chesapeakeman race will become a branded event and renamed Ironman Maryland.

If you haven't already registered for Columbia and are planning on it, you can do so at ucfraces.org.

There are a few slight changes that you should be aware of. The course looks like it will remain the same as it has been, but wave starts have been replaced by time trial starts by age group. Competitors will enter the water in pairs in 2-3 second increments.

If you had already registered for the event, your name should be on their entry list.

This is great news for the race being able to continue, and Ulman Cancer Fund has organized its Half Full Triathlon the past five years on what is essentially the same course so they know what they're doing.

For those registered for Eagleman, information can be found on the Ironman.com site.
