Liege, Belgium - The Meeting International d'Athletisme de la
Province de Liege (nice name) took place earlier this evening in
Belgium. Not a ton of high-power results, but allegedly was being used
as Ethiopia's 10,000m trials. Not sure how that worked out for them, as
just two of the five Ethiopian runners finished (1 was a DNS), and they
went 1-2 because the rest of the field DNFd as well. Very strange.
1 Benti Desisa Lelisa ETH 27:18.17
2 Kuma Abera ETH 27:18.39
DNF Zoubaa Khlaid FRA
DNF Hitrane Jamal MAR
DNF Lahbabi Aziz MAR
DNF Kimutai Kennedy KEN
DNF Jeylan Ibrahim ETH
DNF Jarso Yacob (rabbit) ETH
DNF Haas Stephen (rabbit) USA
DNS Ayele Abayneh ETH
The
only real notable result was the 1:43.62 800m that Kipchirir Rotich
ran, blowing the field away by nearly 2 seconds. Big PR for him.
American Matt Scherer appeared to be the pacesetter in that one. Kind
Butler (USA) ran 20.75 in winning the 200m, and Muna Lee (USA) finished 3rd in the 100m in 11.51.
