Nick Willis Rabbits Tuppeny Twilight 1500m

Nick Willis (L) and his bro Arjun

Swarthmore College - Nick Willis, the Olympian from New Zealand, set the pace for Nate Brannen, bringing them through 1200m with a 2 second gap on the field. But the race was far from secure, as Kyle Merber from Columbia devastated them, opening up to win by a comfortable margin in 3:35.59 (missing Olympic "A" standard by just .09, but setting NCAA Record). Brannen finished 3rd in 3:36.77, while BG's former college teammate Dan Huling, known for his steeple skills, ran 3:37.53. Pre-race faves Will Leer and Lee Emmanuel faded to the back, running 3:41.94 and 3:46.72, respectively.

Our own Arjun Majumdar was on hand and took this great shot with the Wolverine, repping for the B1G. It must have rubbed off, as Arjun ran a season best 4:12.56 in the 1500m. Brian Leiter finished 9th in 3:49.50, which is a result much more in line with his ability, and in the 800m, Louis Foudos ran 2:00.74.

For the women, Darcy McDonald was 12th in 4:22.61, just behind CPTC's Cat Beck, racing for the 2nd time in 3 days, and just ahead of former Michigan standout and Howell High School alum, Lindsay Gallo. Julie Culley was 3rd in 4:15.61.

From the GRC Race Team, Ryan Witters ran a huge PR in the 1500m, running 3:53, and Liz Laseter ran 4:52. The youngster Meghan Lockett ran an impressive 4:42. In the 5000m, Maura Carroll ran 17:27, while Sam Boimov and Jason Myers had solid results. It was another terrific performance for Sam Luff, who finished 2nd in a new PR of 14:18, sandwiched between two Pacers runners.
