TWSS Volunteer Project

As mentioned a couple weeks ago, we will be participating in a volunteer effort. The project that has been arranged is through Happy Helpers for the Homeless.

I have attempted to keep track of the people who have offered to help out. If you have not talked to me yet, it is not too late, just leave a comment or e-mail me!

Working with Happy Helpers is a 2-step process. On Saturday, sandwiches are made and packaged to get ready for distribution, as well as any other donations that have come in. On Sunday, at Our Daily Bread (in Baltimore City) they meet and distribute the food and other items. They do this every single weekend.

Our weekend with them is NEXT WEEKEND, February 4th & 5th. The time commitment is:

Saturday - 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Sunday - 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

On Saturday the sandwiches are made at a location in Glen Burnie, so that is very close. (I'll be able to send directions and more details later).

According to my records, our volunteers are:
Saturday: Ryan, Carly, Tom, Patti, Joel, Christa, PJ(?)
Sunday: Ryan, Carly, NBP, Dustin, Brennan (I think you wanted Sunday?)

Meg McNew and Denise, if you are still interested let me know which day(s) you are available!

Please let me know ASAP if something has come up and you will not be able to make your day. It’s not a big deal, but I just want to have a proper count for Bobbi, the leader.

*Remember* this is Superbowl Sunday. We will be done in plenty of time before the game, just something to keep in mind. Additionally, if people can keep this in mind when scheduling/coordinating long runs next weekend that would be great!

The only thing they ask if we can bring would be for Saturday, and that is lunch meat. I don’t really eat cold cuts, so I don’t really know what that means, but I’ll get some clarification and send an e-mail out on Monday to let people know how this can be accomplished.

I can help on Sunday.

This is terrific response!

As a clarification, I think Alyssa needs to provide them with a head count for EACH day, so for those who said they were available "either" - could you please specify Saturday, Sunday, or both? Thanks!

I am still in for Saturday, but I might be a little late as the ever-changing Lewis 10 miler is now scheduled for that morning and it's out in Frederick.
