Well it's of course super late in the week this time, but before this weekend's results I want to give the racers from last weekend their due (plus BRRC just posted results for Frozen Finger 5M)
I'll start with that, Frozen Finger 5 Mile, where some names who we haven't seen in a while raced! Sean McCarthy - yes, that's right - Sean McCarthy, finished 4th in 33:24. Denise Knickman was 1st F at 34:34. Peter Jackson (not the director of the LOTR Trilogy and District 9) ran with us a few times at track, he was 6th in 34:39. Jackie Truncellito was 3rd in 36:56 and Christine Trzcinski was 6th in 39:23. Great job all!
At the Fred Lebow Classic 5M in NYC, Kevin McGrath, the day before his 26th birthday, ran 36:38 for 341st.
On the scholastic tip, superstars Blaze and Tink rocked their respective mile races at PG Complex on Saturday. Matt has already qualified for the prestigious Millrose Games later this month, but he recorded his 2nd sub 4:20 mile of the season, winning in 4:19.80. Madeline won in 5:06.55. Definitely faster than I can run right now.
At the old folks' indoor meet on Sunday, the track trio of Ed Aramayo, Tristram Thomas and Alex Battaglino took 1st, 2nd and 4th, respectively, in the 1600m. Ed lowered his time just slightly from last time, running 4:28. Tristram, who had been at PG all day Saturday, was there again, this time edging out a dude for 3rd in 4:32. Alex was pleased with his race, and said he's excited to race again indoors. He ran 4:36. In the masters' mile, Cynthia Evans ran 6:52.50. Ed went back at it a short while later in the 800, running a really great race to win in 2:01.6. Really promising considering he was hovering around that time last spring.
That led to our Purple Drink Athlete of the Week, and, for the first time ever (he also celebrated a birthday this week), Tristram wins the award.
