The North Invades Richmond

While I hardly consider Maryland "the North," it'll do for now.

Check out these BIG race results from the capital of the Confederacy:

SunTrust Richmond Marathon - Melissa Majumdar, looking for a little redemption, set out with a modest goal. She didn't put much into her training following Chicago, and was going into this on whatever fitness she had accrued. According to on the scene reporter Brennan Feldhausen, she was running sub 3 hour pace through 20 miles, and was sitting just outside the top 5 (the money spots). With 2 to go she had moved to 3rd, but a severe hitting of the wall occurred and she stumbled into the finish. She managed a 6th place finish - which is awesome - and her time was 3:05:07. This is 3 minutes faster than she ran at NYC last November, and considerably faster than her time from Chicago a month ago. Awesome job Melissa!

McDonald's Half Marathon - Tim Parker has been searching for this race for as long as he's been running. Which is to say, basically the last 7 or 8 years, when he started running. Coming into this race he had never broken 1:20, and after some flatlining, wasn't sure if he'd get there. Recently, since working with Jeff Gaudette, he's seen a resurgence. His half marathon at the much more difficult Baltimore race was a sign that he was fit and ready to tackle Richmond, and what do you know? 1:19:49. One of, if not THE best race of his life. He finished 27th overall.

HCA Virginia 8k - Brennan's sister Erin was in town visiting, and I'll take credit for getting her ready for today with our bike ride Thursday. She ran 34:13, an 8k PR, and finished 2nd in her AG. Nina Kristina Hartman was running with her pops - don't worry, normally she wouldn't run an hour on her own accord!

Also happy birthday today Chrissie!
