Some Like It Hot

And some sweat when the heat is on
Some feel the heat and decide that they can't go on
Some like it hot but you can't tell how hot til you try
Some like it hot, so let's turn up the heat til we fry

The lyrics of this Robert Palmer song pretty much sum up the Chicago Marathon experience. For a thoughtful perspective, I direct you to Ben's most recent blog post. You can see the results on the right hand side.

Ironman World Championships at Kona went well for our silver foxes Ed Jablonski and Scott Boylan. Lisa Ievers ran under 70 minutes for 10 miles at the Tough Ten in Alabama, really solid time.

In Mission Viejo, California, OJ Keller finished 12th in the Best of the US Triathlon Championship, on what was described as a super tough course. His Maryland teammate, and occasional training partner from Frederick, Lucas McCollum, teamed up to place Maryland 3rd among the represented states. Spider Sillery was also there, representing TN, and he finished 21st with the fastest run of the day.

But, as mentioned in the email and reiterated here, our rockstar Carly Page outran all but 7 other women at the Mohawk Hudson River Marathon, and debuted at the distance in the incredible time of 3:12:37. What more can you say about that gangster performance that doesn't come across in the time and place? She earned this week's Purple Drink Athlete of the Week. Like there's no tomorrow, always remember that.

Looks like we've got some pretty awesome weather for track tonight, let's have a good workout!
