Route Suggestions

Since DENISE is "technologically incapable" of posting, she asked me to post this on her behalf:

Does anyone know the condition of the trails, i.e. Patapsco or NCR? (I said that nobody's even attempted to run there in at least a month, and even my mtb friends haven't been there recently I don't think).

Does anyone know the condition of the roads around Lake Montebello or Druid Hill?

Her cousin (probably an actual cousin, not the way Terence or Brennan use it) has a 20 miler on tap for the weekend, and isn't sure where to accomplish it.

Responses can go directly to D at denisekn@gmail.com. Thanks!

The roads around Druid Hill are okay. The trails are barely touched, and they have not plowed around the reservoir, I'm planning on running up there this afternoon to check in the meltage.

This isn't related to the routes Denise was asking about - but, I made the mistake of running the shady 7 last night. The first bike trail section near Barcs is only half plowed (which I didn't know until I had gone half-way). None of the other bike paths are plowed which means you have to run on the roads. The worst part is the bridge. The sidewalk is covered with about 4 feet of compacted dirty snow. I had to constantly look back for cars and then jump into the snow bank whenever two lanes of traffic came by. I gave up on the section near the merritt and just scrambled up the hill to the merritt parking lot. good times.

Thanks. I passed the info along to my cousin.

If anyone else is wondering about places to run/do workouts during the meltage, I ran by Gilman today. They have 3 lanes of track cleared as well as the paved oval around the outside of the track. The reservoir at Druid hill is still under snow/ice.
