Writer-runners are the COOLEST

Out of all the crappy articles people write about running, I don't think I would trust anybody's word more than this guy, in this article. He's my F-ing hero, not because of how he runs, but because of his perspective on it, and his ability to tell about it.

If you haven't seen "Endurance" you really need to - it's the best running related movie I know of other than "the Jericho Mile" of course (see my blog post). You are right - Geb's perspective on running is great. For Geb running = freedom - and that was long before he made any money doing it.

fbg, i didnt like this piece. First, I dont think Geb wrote it himself and if he did, it probably went through tons of editing and such. Its so short and doesnt really tell more than we know already about him. Why were they afraid to make it longer?

It's not that they were afraid to make it longer, it's just that it's Newsweek and people's attention spans are short.

Now, I'm afraid if I make myself any longer, someone could get hurt, like get their eye poked out or something. Catch my drift?

Okay now that I've read the article it was a little short, and failed to set any kind of story. That said, the last paragraph was the point.

"That first marathon was the most painful competition of my career, and I often think back to it as I run today. Since then I have been world champion four times and have twice won the Olympic 10,000-meter race."

So basically what Geb is saying is that I'm going to become WC 4x and then win the 10k in the Olympics at least twice. Sweet.

Kip, you should invade his country and settle the running thing once & for all.
