I'll Give You A Topic

Discuss amongst yourselves...

1) See Travis' post below and please let him know if you're interested. I know it probably applies to Alyssatard, Dave P and Collin at least for some of those crazy long ones.

2) Practice tomorrow evening will be held at MEADOWOOD aka The Magic Garden, 6:30 warmup, 7:00 start. We are doing 2x15min on the grass, paved path if you don't like the grass. I may throw in a third depending on how I feel.

3) Travis did very well in his 50k this weekend, but was out-Purple Drink'd by Team Kip/Denise in the 10 miler relay. I don't have official results yet but will get them on the board soon.

4) Thursday is the last track meet for those interested, Goucher College, 6:30. 5000m, probably a mile as well, 4x400. I may try and get there.

5) I finally managed to get through a long run without dying, which was good because I was by myself, nobody was home to come get me and I basically did an out and back so once I was out, I was OUT. But I went 2.5 hours, muddled through a little over 20 miles, feel like death today. My next real "effort" will come on Saturday August 23rd. The plan:

Go to College Park in the morning. Run approximately 1/2 mile on a trail to the start of a 6 mile loop. Run 3x6 miles in a progressive format, starting somewhere around 7min maybe and work down towards 6. The trail is a little easier than PAT and there is more rhythm. Total for the run will be 19. Then we will dine in College Park and rest up for that evening's Hubs of Fury II event. We also need to discuss plans for watching the Olympic Marathon, which may conflict somewhat with HOF2, but we'll figure it out.

What time is the olympic marathon? We should definitely organize the HoF so we can watch it, and play some sort of drinking game. (I'm sure we can think of something good)

And, I'm going to need to borrow some wheels from someone (or, "Hubs" I suppose) because I don't have any at the moment. A kids bike would be nice, or a tricycle, if anyone has one.

The marathon is a 7:30PM. I agree with organising HoF around the marathon; that way all the lame people who are racing annapolis 10 miler Sunday can still come out for a little bit.

damn, that's shaping up to be a great day! sorry i'm going to miss it. fbg, you can use my single speed (i have a wheel with freewheel if you don't want to ride fixie) if you don't get any better offers. seeing as it's awesome i don't think you will.

also, i plan on being at the track meet this thursday.

F! I really don't want to sit inside on a Saturday night while BG is in town watching a 2 hour race. I guess we can technically do it, but in the meantime I will try and find a better way for us to view this event. Worst case we start here in Canton, ride around to Locust Point, and take less time at the bars??

I also wouldn't recommend riding the fixed gear, as I don't know how well that would work out for you after trying to tame the creature.

I'm also upset that Zero and Kris will have to miss HOF2. Is it too early to start talking about HOF3? September 13??

i can put the freewheel on the fix. count me in for hof3.

I say the marathon gets tivo-ed and after HOF people can watch it or go rest up for the A10. Or we just hit really small bars where we can peer pressure the people into putting it on the TVs there.

HOF2!!! Can I drive my car around? I can blast HOF2 Theme music as I follow you guys to the bars...

You motherf'ers - I LOVE this level of commitment! Alyssa, thank you for saying what I wasn't going to say! I also was going to investigate and see if some of the bars whose owners I know around here would be willing to show it, which I think they would.

T, you have to steal a bike or something, you've GOT to ride, no cars. Although I wouldn't mind theme music. Also, steal a boombox and some cassette tapes.

HOF3 date will be mutually agreed upon by the group. Some dates we could look into having it would be 9/13, or probably not until after marathon season which puts us at like 11/8, 11/15 or 11/29.

9.13!

Not 9.13, it's Claire's birthday. We can't overshadow birth by fury, it's just too angry sounding.

Not 9/13.

I would prefer HOF3 not to be on my birthday also that would put HOF3 too close to HOF2 in my opinion.
For HOF2 if we go Canton to Locust Point we could watch the marathon either during or after the event at my place as we have DVR. If it's during the event then drinking games could easily be incorporated. And since it's on DVR we can always watch some parts of the race in ffwd to make it less than a 2 hour ordeal. Just a thought.

Sorry to interreupt the planning of HoF3, but I have a comment about the still-upcoming Hof2:

Thanks for the offer of your fixie, kris. I'm all about trying it out, but as I've never ridden one before, I don't know if it would be hard or not. I think it could go either way. Gimme one crash; that makes a good story. Gimme two or more, and that just sounds painful. I'll leave it to you to decide.

Laaaaaate.

Well we'll hold a separate event on 9/13 then. Claire and the girls can do something girly for her birthday, Chrissie can go to her friend's wedding and the dudes can have HOF:ROD (Hubs of Fury: Revenge of the Dudes).

Hubs of Fury is a franchise of events, but it doesn't mean we can't not just ride our bikes to the bars at all times. I've been riding my bike to places for the past few weeks and I love it. Once it gets cooler it will be even nicer.
