BRRC Track Meet #3

ok, i'm going to put this in writing so that i have to do it. i'm planning on going to the track meet on thursday, aug. 7th. and running the 5000. i know what you're thinking... "5k on the track? that sounds terrible." right. which is why i'm hoping some of you will come to the meet and share my pain. or better yet, run the f@#king 5000 with me. whatever. if nothing else, it'll be fun watching me implode after 7 laps.

Skip the track meet and come see Hootie and the Blowfish at Pier 6 with the cool kids instead.

I'm sorry, THE KRIS, but when did a 5000m on the track become "terrible"? Is this something that happened since I've been away? The euro dudes are ALL ABOUT 5k's on the track, but the 10,000m isn't quite en vogue, yet.

Seriously, though, if a track isn't for running 5k's, then what is it for? "Working on your speed" by running a mile/1500m? Plus, my track 5k PR is a solid 41 seconds faster than my road PR, which was a downhill course. This is about the numbers, and how much they impress the ladies. Oh yeah, and don't get lapped.

Re: Hootie

it's probably past my bed time.

Re: THE FBG

dude, i used to run the 800m... 3200m sounds far to me. mostly that's just me being a wuss, we'll see if i can man up. judging by the times last year, i shouldn't get lapped, but who knows, kip may be there. i can't picture there being much that's more depressing than using your kick a lap early to keep from being lapped.

5k's are fun when you are a) fast and b) in college. 5k's at a local summertime meet = not so fun. Either way, I've committed to trying to help Kris through 2 miles, so I guess I've got to go. Plus, we need to break our 4x400 record for TWSS.

since when did we have a 4x400 record?

Since August of 2006. The team was comprised of Brian, SaraMac, Chrissie and myself. We ran an amazing 4:14.
