Final Plans for Sunday

Hey folks...

I'll be leaving for Cambridge tomorrow morning. If you should need me for any reason, make sure you call early, like before 7pm. I can assure you that after that time my phone will be OFF.

Race morning, if you're planning on coming, plan to leave early. Not that there will be traffic getting there, but I don't know what the scene looks like when you get there. I go off at 0700 and will be swimming for around 28 minutes (hopefully) and then out on the bike for at least 2:15. That means no earlier than 9:45 will I get on the run. 1:20 later (or so) and should be done.

I'm sure we'll be able to tell my place within the age group pretty easily, but I hear they'll also post results fairly quick. If I don't feel like I need to stay for awards, we can all just bounce and beat traffic back. If I do have to stay, nobody should feel obligated to stay with me.

For Bay Cafe after-party, I probably won't have my phone on me, so just use your head. It'll definitely be after 5, probably closer to 6 or 7 even that I can get there. I'll be out for a while, so if you can show up, awesome. Look for Emily and Bryan at the race, if you need any phone numbers, holler.

It says on the Eagleman website that there is live athlete tracking but I couldn't find where the actual tracking page was, anyone got a link for me?

It is supposed to have it, since it's an official Ironman event. I just tried looking for Bryan and Emily, can't find it. If it would be anywhere, it would be on www.ironman.com. They may be more responsive to the pro race that's going on, but you should be able to get some results fairly quick.

Hard to know what to say about that race. I can imagine that is was about 90-something degrees. RM showed some fanatical determination in deciding to finish that race and I hope he didn't do any permanent damage to his body or brains by plodding through 13 hellish miles at 16 minute pace.

I am sure Ryan is disappointed but hopefully this will make him stronger and, after some serious recovery, ready to tackle new challenges in the future.
