Upon the successful completion of her first half marathon, TWSS member Jen Koshy let out a primordial scream, evoking the inner Monica Seles within every post-adolescent female.
Just kidding, I have no idea - I wasn't there. But, with her 1:43 half marathon, Jen "Let's Get Cozy" Koshy (I might have to work on that nickname) was awarded this week's Purple Drink Athlete of the Week.
There were other great performances, like Claire's 1:35, which puts her in the top half marathon spot for 2008 top times, as well as Collin and David doing some crazy trail marathon/50k.
And here is a little article I picked up today on VeloNews about increasing intensity to get into race shape. The basic principle applies to running as well, although I wouldn't necessarily recommend trying to get in PEAK shape just yet - after all, we have a long season and holding a running peak is a little different than cycling. But it doesn't hurt to start thinking about April 1 and the official return of Tuesday Night Track.
We should all be working with a decent base by now, and you should be able to handle an increase in intensity without it crippling you, just remember to recover. Hard workouts should be hard, easy workouts have to be easy. Medium days just tire you out. Look at what Kip does, or wear a HRM or something to make sure you aren't working too hard on your easy days.

So honored. There might not have been a "primordial scream" but I did eat three slices of pizza directly after, which is an accomplishment in itself for me.
