Brooks Cavalcade @ Falls Road Friday Night

For those not aware, the Brooks Cavalcade, a traveling circus of shoes and apparel, is coming to Falls Road Running Store this coming Friday, September 9th.  Thanks in no small part (and by that I mean, mostly) to the efforts of Ed, the event will include a visit from Kooper's Chowhound food truck (food available for sale) as well as a keg and live music from one of Jen Koshy's friends.

The event starts at 4pm and goes until 9pm I believe, and according to Brooks' own Will Knox, they will be doing gait analysis and there will be giveaways - including the possibility of winning free Brooks shoes and getting outfitted head to toe in their apparel.  The event should be a good time, so if you're around Friday afternoon/evening, try to stop by.

Another great thing I'm going to bring to your attention:

Yoga for Runners: Stretching Your Body from the Inside Out workshops at the Baltimore Yoga Village Mt. Washington studio are going on select Saturdays leading up to the marathon.  If you are registered to run the race, you can receive 1/2 off for the workshop.  There are other amazing opportunities thruogh this studio's offerings and teachers, so you might consider visiting the website to see if a class will work out for you.  The first one was this past Saturday, but there is another one on September 17, and another on October 1.  Sept 17 is at the Hampden location.  The workshop is 2.5 hours long (from 1:30-4:00pm) and the cost is $40 ($20 if registered for the marathon).  The website is http://baltimoreyogavillage.com/cms/mt-washington-workshop/view/284/104.

The workshops are run by Steph Snyder, the lovely wife of our very own Matt "Spree" Cornwell, and herself one of the top runners in NJ in the late 1900s.  Since she is a competitive runner herself, she knows that we all do a terrible job stretching so these classes are intended for us (although you do NOT have to be a runner to attend) and they are a nice introduction to coordinating the body and spirit through stretching, in a positive atmosphere.  Even if you can't get there on these Saturdays, you should investigate going to one of Steph's classes.
