Solid racing this past weekend! Congrats.
As I have spoken with several of you over the past couple of weeks I see a number of different races on the horizon. Some are focusing on the shorter stuff, some on the usual circuit and some on marathons. This message is directed more towards those that are looking at marathon training.
For the first time since 2009 there seems to be a large group of "us" training for a marathon around the same time of year. With this in mind I wanted to give a heads up as to my plans over the coming weeks/months in the hopes that we can get a good group out working together to get better over the summer. Having worked out with this group in preparation for races in the past I know that it is very helpful as it not only pushes you, but it also keeps you in check from overdoing things. Two keys that can be a struggle when training on your own.
I believe that my marathon (NYC) will be the last on the calendar. That being said, I have my workouts laid out and planned for now until November 6th. I invite/ask you to join me on any of these runs. Typically I'll be doing workouts on Tuesdays (usually mornings) and Saturdays. Regardless of pace there are at least portions of the run/workout that can be done as a group. So let me know if you are interested in doing any long, fast workouts over the summer months and we'll hopefully have a nice group together.
I won't be doing any "speed" stuff for roughly a month as the focus right now is base building and developing the Long Run. My first true Long Run will be this Saturday. I'm looking to do 17. I doubt that many are currently going that far, but let me know if you want to meet for a portion of this run. Place and time can be negotiated.
UPDATE: Saturday a group of us are meeting in Mt. Washington at 8am at Dustin's. Contact Dustin or me if interested.

that's funny, i was just thinking of talking to you about this. I plan on running a marathon this fall (at this point it looks like richmond), and wouldn't mind not having to do all the work by myself. that said, mornings might be rough for me but i'd be willing to give it a try.
I'm in for a long run on saturday. i was going to do 15, but i don't think 17 would be too much of a stretch. shoot me an email when you have a chance, i'd like to see what kind of workouts you plan on doing.
I've got Twin Cities Oct. 2nd, so I'm up for coordinating schedules. No long run for me this week, but maybe next.
Keep me in the loop on this, especially the long runs. This weekend is out (I'm running the Old Dominion 100), and the next two are questionable, but after that, my schedule should return to "normal" (whatever that is . . .)
I will be able to join the long run this Saturday for upwards of 12. Keep me in the loop. I wouldn't mind going to Patapsco, but road is also fine.
Brennan, what kind of pace are you seeking?
Oh, yah, and I'm also running NYC Nov 6
What is the estimated pace for the Saturday run?
I'm clearly the slow antelope in this crowd, but since I am planning to run NY, I will attempt to show up when things are reasonable for a gal of my abilities. Please keep me in the loop!! And if anyone ever wants a reason to go slow (i.e. true recovery days) - I will gladly assist!
Chrissie - We'll probably be around 7:30s. If you need it faster let us know.
Carly / all - I think we have solid group that will be shooting for goals in the 2:3X-3:2X range and will have lots of folks in that area. Plenty of people with different abilities that we should be able to all match up at some point and time!
If I need it to be faster . . . HAHAHAHA. My arm is broken and I have been rapidly gaining weight for the past 3 weeks. I think my first longer run will need to be a little bit slower. I'll catch up with you guys in another week or so.
"rapidly gaining weight" yeah you look real fat, you ripped skinny betch
Carly- I'll run with you. I go slow.
Christy- didn't standing next to my fat ass at the track yesterday make you feel better? :p
I meant Tuesday. I don't even know what day it is.
