Make it Clap

First and foremost, a new World Record has been set in the 800 meter event. David Rudisha of Kenya ran 1:41.09, breaking "Dane" Wilson Kipketer's 1:41.11 from about 20 years ago.

Second, the results from this weekend were big. Real big.

Here are the abbreviated highlights:

Ben Ingram wins the Drake Well Marathon in PA in the time of 2:45:33, winning by 15 minutes. It's his first practice marathon of the year, and puts him in good shape to rock that sub 2:30 at Chicago.

Diane Heiser competes in her first triathlon, which, rather than do the normal "start with an Olympic or Sprint", was a half Ironman in New Hampshire. She swam 48 minutes, rode 3:04 (18.3mph) and ran a very swift 1:42.

Alyssa Godesky ran a 21:57 5k for 6th F. Pretty routine, except her weekend included 100mi ride + 6mi brick on Saturday, and 53mi hard in Frederick + 2mi hard brick on Sunday before the race.

David Ploskonka won the Beast of Burden 100 Miler in NY. Insane. 2h40m PR, running 16:19:05. Set a 50mi PR en route (7h7m). Won $750. Drove up and back by himself, ran with no crew. Probably wore a white cotton shirt, and didn't drink water. Just a guess. This earned him the week's Purple Drink Athlete of the Week.

Just to set the record straight, I drank about 20 ounces of water per hour, and I didn't wear a shirt. Also, I ate an awful lot of Skittles.
