H.U.R.T. Hawaii

Ok, so I realize 44 days isn't really sufficient for planning/training/etc, but I wanted to throw this out there for Alyssa, Ben, or anyone else crazy enough to consider a 100 mile race.

If you make it out here for next year's race, I will offer up my house as a place to crash. So we don't have a villa on the ocean, but the digs aren't bad.

The same goes for the Hawaii Ironman, except that I live on the wrong island. But if you make it to Kona and want to visit Honolulu and Oahu, then by all means, you're welcome to crash here.

I think Ben could probably run 100 miles, but Alyssa couldn't. No way. Especially if there are hills.

By the way, you don't *train* for a hundred-miler; you just *do* it. Jeez.

Elf, you and I can make it in 44 days, right?

Hawaii in January? Sounds baller. HURT 2011 it is.

PS - In addition to a couch to sleep on you will probably have to be my pacer for a minimum of 20 miles....mmmk thanks.

I echo Brian's sentiments. You don't train for it, you just do it.

I'm in.

44 days? No prob. If I can run 2 miles more each day than I currently can, I'll be up to 88 by the time of the race. That's enough.

Also, super psyched to see Ryno posting and using the labels!

Schmidt's going to have to play a LOT of ultimate frisbee if he wants to pace Alyssa for a good chunk of the 100-miler.

Ben...I spent my first nights ever in a hospital after my second 50 miler and was told to stop racing, and I'm still a baller. I second brennan's DBAP.

wow brennan - i thought us asthma kids were supposed to stick together!

Ben do you even have asthma or was it a convenient excuse for vaginitis?

No problem Alyssa, but I feel I must inform you at this point that my longest run ever occured 2 weeks ago ... and it was only 20 miles.

Slightly related, the Xterra Trail Run World Championships take place this Sunday not far from my house. We're gonna head over to the park to watch the race and picnic. I'll post some pics/thoughts after.

DUDE YOU HAVE TO GO TO XTERRA!!

I was actually gonna run it at first (you don't have to qualify for it), but then quickly decided to do an early 5k Sunday morning in town.

But the race is only like 10 miles from our house, so I definitely plan on going to watch.

It's one of the sickest events I've ever seen*

* I have only seen coverage on TV

But XTerra is the truth. It's everything that's right in our sport of triathlon. At least for now.

I ALMOST signed up for HURT for this year, but decided I couldn't afford it.
