Cherry Blossom Reg.

From the website:

The 38th running of the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run and 5K Run-Walk
will be held on April 11, 2010.

Registration for the 2010 Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run and 5K Run-Walk Will Be Conducted by Lottery

After the 2009 Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile run filled its on-line quota of 12,000 runners last year in just 2 hours and 45 minutes, the organizers have decided to institute a lottery system for entry into the 2010 event. Under the new system, entrants will be able to register for the lottery over a 10-day period between 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 and 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2009. Entrants will be electronically selected for the Ten Mile Run and 5K Run-Walk after the lottery registration period closes. The results of the selection process for both events will be posted on the event website, www.cherryblossom.org, by 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 15.

That's real gay. In addition to lottery they may as well have time qualifications as well. Stupid.

Who plans on doing this miserable race?

Let me know, I'll talk to Jim - maybe we can have some pull via team entry. EMAIL or leave a comment if you plan on doing this.

Oh but in the meantime, I suppose register for the lottery. If anyone doesn't get in I'll probably be able to get you in after the fact.

Count me in. Ryan, I agree, you might think they could give more automatic qualifying entries, or at least priority, to those who've run previously. My beef is having runners competing for limited slots with so many who choose to walk this race.

The walking is out of control in that race. The ATL equivalent to CB10 is the Peachtree 10k in that everyone and they're mom who lives in GA wants to do it on the 4th, then party the rest of the day. They have (or at least had back in the day when I lived down there) a very friendly qualifying standard of (I think) 45:00 for young-ish men. Just fast enough to keep the walkers out.
