Evil Wind

I stumbled upon this article written for the NY marathon about the effects of wind during marathons.
http://web1.nyrrc.org/nyrrc/marathon/info/weatherstrat.html

Considering most of us were on or near our goal paces for the first 1/2-2/3 of the race, we were likely working ~8% harder (or more) than we should have been to keep it up, which led to our various levels of crashing. Not that the wind is a good excuse, but it may make anyone who is unhappy with their performance feel a little better about things falling apart towards then end.
