Saturday @ Derwood

Site of the 2009 USATF Cross Country National Championship and World Team Trial...

Alright here's the deal:

18400 Muncaster Rd, Derwood, MD 20855
Meet @ 10:00am
Workout: something along the lines of 2k/1k in-and-outs

For those departing from Baltimore, we can carpool. I suggest we meet at Arjun's (1321 Clarkson St) at 9am. I am not sure how many people we have right now, my guess is we'll need on additional driver other than myself. It takes roughly 40 minutes to get there. For those meeting us, you just take Route 108 West for a while and bang a left onto Muncaster Rd I think it is, and the park is about 1.5 miles on your right.

They are in the process of marking the course, so we'll have markers. It will be muddy and wet. Please bring a towel and a clean pair of clothes and a bag in which to put wet clothes for when we're done. Also a couple dollars cause we'll probably stop at that sweet bagel place Claire took us to. Additionally, feel free to wear spikes. If you have any questions you know where to direct them.

Wednesday Night Run update: I am in Preston, MD today, and if I do not leave by 4pm I may not make it back home in time. If that's the case, I will let Kris know. Otherwise we will be running regardless of weather.

i can't believe that i'm saying this, but does anyone want to run BEFORE the run at durwood? i'd like to end up with 18-20 for the day, so i'll be looking to make up the diff before we head down.

Brennan and I discussed wanting to get in 15. We were thinking 3 mile warm up and 4+ mile cool down. I would be happy to extend the cool down or even add another mile to the warm up, but I would not want to make the group wait. So we could get there a bit early to make it all workout. Let me know what you want to do.

that works for me, just let me know what time and where you want to meet. are you running tonight?

Looks like you kids will be sharing the course with the Georgetown crew, they are also going there this Saturday. Show them who is boss.

In fairness, I did call this date way before they did.

Kris, why wouldn't you just look to do a "long" run the next day? Doing like 10 miles before a workout like that is pretty hefty.

And apologies for not making it to the run tonight, got stuck on the eastern shore til 7 and just got home. Now I have to go run.

I just tried to sign up for USaTF, but Falls Rd is still not a club. Does that matter for signing up? Can't make it this weekend, please make a video and post it. Also a detailed map with roots and rock markings would be appreciated.

i think i'm up to the challenge. plus, i can't go wrong doing what arjun and brenan are doing.

J - I don't *think* it matters, because I just have to designate runners for the team. Also, I feel like you can sign up as unattached potentially and then go back in and change your affiliation. Let me check with Jim today on that status and get back to you.

As an update, weather/ass man Ben Ingram has informed me that the weather outlook for Saturday is not bright. I will still go if it has JUST rained or plans on raining later in the day, but if it is actively precipitating at 9am on Saturday and the temp is not above 45 degrees, I will probably not go.

Mostly because I don't want you dirty mf'ers getting back in my car all wet, muddy and cold cause I know you'll all forget towels and dry clothes and I'll have to hear you bitch/have my car smell worse than it already does from about 20 race trips this year.

Ryan, what's backup plan in the event the current forcast for morning snow showers holds?

RM said...

Tim, there is no backup plan. If it's shitty enough to prevent me from going to Derwood, I'm probably going to sleep all day, watch movies and maybe, maybe if I get the energy later in the day, go for an easy run.

Are you planning on coming to Derwood with us?

Tim said...

No, that's what made me curious of your backup plan instead. Likely to be like one hell of a mess there tomorrow, so I'm looking forward to better conditions and perhaps your real alternative.
