Long Run

well, i waffled as long as i could, but i guess i need to just go ahead and make a decision. i'll be doing my long run on sunday morning (about 9) at the NCR trail. the plan is 10 miles easy, followed by 8 miles @ 6:30 pace.

also, i'll be doing the 11 mile loop at patapsco on friday afternoon around 4 if anyone is interested.

Thanks dude. If anyone plans on joining Kris please let him know. I assume you start at the little park and ride, or do you start down at 0.0??

I may be there, but obviously I'll let you know ahead of time.

i've never run there before, so your guess is as good as mine as to where to start. suggestions?

Kris we are starting at mile 0 at 6AM Sat. You can get water at mile 7 monkton. and at mile 1. Have a good run.

Kris - here are my directions to NCR - Rt. 83 North to exit 20A (Shawan Rd. East). Drive on Shawan Road for about a mile until you get to the third traffic light, at the third light Shawan Rd stops and you turn right onto York Road (Rte. 45). Turn right and then get into the left lane real quick. At the first light turn left onto Ashland Road. Ashland turns into Paper Mill Road after about 1/2 mile. Go an additional 1/2-3/4 mile and there will be a parking lot on your left off of Paper Mill Road. That's about the .5 mile marker on the NCR Trail. There is a smaller parking lot at mile 0 of the trail. To get there when you first get onto Ashland Road when it turns into Paper Mill Road you turn right into a residential community with a sign that says ASHLAND. Turn right into the community and follow this road straight back to the parking lot.

That being said, whenever I have gone up there I go to the .5 mile mark to start. No real reason why though.
THAT being said, if after your run you want a burger and/or a bev, feel free to come over to my house for the tailgate. That goes for all of you oldies (but goodies) who are not on Facebook to have received the invite.

Can we run at 4:30 Today (Friday)?

RM said...

Shoot, Arjun's gonna run today? I'm half-tempted to join you guys...

What's the deal with the weather, why is everyone freaking out? It isn't going to be a hurricane, but apparently everyone is treating it like it's Hurricane Katrina. Everyone that is doing this tri tomorrow in PA is flipping over it, saying we'll probably not swim, or that it might be canceled altogether. If that were the case I would definitely run today.

alyssa: thanks for the directions. the invite is on my dry erase board, and if you're my age, that IS facebook. bry erase...i love technology!

travis: drop those guys and run with ben and me.

arjun: yes

ryan: drop the tri-without-a-swim and run with us on sunday.

alyssa said...

1. The tri will not be cancelled.
2. I actually think we are going to swim now. The hurricane is going to hit more south, and the weather for Lancaster has potensh for some rain, but nothing too serious until later.
3. Kris - you're welcome!

1) Dry erase boards are my jam.

2) You may see me at 4:30 today possibly.

3) Ben is running on Sunday? No WAY I could run then if my knee isn't 100%, he's going to put it down.

THE KRIS said...

note: as i hadn't heard from anyone, i moved today's run to 5 as per arjun's request. dry erase boards where MY jam when you were in diapers.

alyssa said...

dry erase boards are for peasants.....but I don't judge.

Travis said...

how is a big bird going to use a dry erase board? Blondes.

alyssa said...

Travis - my favorite blonde joke is the one where I beat you in a sixty two point four mile footrace in the mountains in three weeks :) haha but seriously....are you in GEER yet?

hey, i'm a new kid on the block. hoping to run chicago in a couple of weeks at 6:50 pace. is alright if i join up with you sunday morning for the long run..see how long i can keep up? -nina.

Kris it would be cool if we saw you on the way back. Might be around Monkton coming back around 9:30-10:30. If you start at 9 we should cross twice.

Still talking about GEER. I think it will fill with the North face one being canceled. I am trying to find a crew.

Nina, I'm sure it would be fine for you to show up. Just look for the two oldest guys around (just kidding). Actually Kris drives a huge silver Nissan truck and Ben rides his Obama-mobile Volvo. The only thing missing is the baby seat.

9am at the parking lot at Paper Mill, Alyssa was so kind as to post the directions above if you need them.

nina, feel free to join us. we should be starting off at 7-7:30 pace, basically whatever everybody is feeling.
