TNT #19

Post-workout notes:

Great group out there tonight, glad to see everyone back from trips, glad to see it's still early August, sad/jealous that I didn't go anywhere this summer.

So we reached our maximum number of allowable workouts at the Magic Garden (2) - don't worry we won't be back there. Next week we'll hit Robert E Lee for a reprise of our workout from a few weeks back. Might not make it as long of a run before the hills this time. The week after that we'll be back on the track for 8-10x1000m w/:60 recovery, my favorite workout of the summer.

If you are interested in a weekend long run at Patapsco please let me know. Jeff is interested in running about 11 miles, and I do not plan on running this weekend.

Have you registered for the races you plan on doing this fall?

If you haven't you should get on that, remember some of them do close out. Same goes for races for NEXT year if this applies to you, for instance I have to register for Columbia before it sells out, as Eagleman sold out in a week.

Even though we've been running for a while now in the heat (and tonight was pretty cool, albeit humid) still be sure to mind your nutrition levels. I feel like I'm finally getting balanced back out, taking a Centrum every other day, drinking water, eating salts and stuff. Stretch, ice, take care of yourselves as we enter the biggest part of our year, it's no fun when you have a million races and are hurt.

Baltimore relay - I know the girls have a team, we have to help them with a name. Looks like Justin is probably out for the race, so I don't know if T still plans on it, but if anyone has an interest in putting together a team, again just let me know.

That's all for now.

I as well had a TNT this week, my first VO2 max session. I ran 8 x 800 with 2 minutes rest @ 5k pace. First, I will say that I have no idea what my 5k pace is, so i just ran hard. It went like this:
2:36, 2:36, 2:35, 2:35, 2:34, 2:37, 2:36, 2:33.

Does that tip me to run around 16:00? I don't know, maybe on a track, a downhill track. As usual, running faster than training pace feels really weird, and as usual I was running alone, though Ella came out and watched me run two intervals and then wandered away because it was "boring." Whatev.

That's weird. (oh, by the way, nice workout, Jack Manner) I only know one girl from Vermont, and her name is Ella. She doesn't live there any more. I wonder if they're all names Ella.

i would have loved to run 800 repeats...maybe not at 2:30 pace and maybe not 8 of them...

i'd be down with running 11 miles on Saturday, Jeff. I don't know who you are but i'm game. i couldn't tell you what pace i run...

Jake, that's a great workout. Scale of 1-5, how hard was that for you? I think you should be able to run pretty close to 16, especially given your new strength.

Dr. J, given how easy that run with me and Kris was for you at REL that one day, I'd say you'd be able to hang at a pretty decent pace at Patapsco. It is a lot harder, obviously, and it would be a pretty long run, but you could do it. Maybe you guys should set it up for Saturday, Kris could always run some before or something, I can let Matt Stanford know as well.

It was a 4. I probably had two or so left in me, I felt good the next day on my long run.

Dr. J:

I'm going to update the TWSS Spreadsheet that's on the right hand side of the blog with a tab for directions to the various places we practice. This way everyone always has access to it!
