Robert E Lee Park

I always see that sign that says "Park Open Dawn to Dusk" but I have never been asked why I was running there at say 9pm at night in the winter or 5am in the summer. Over the past few weeks, I have been getting up early (5:30am) to go for morning runs (just like good old days back home) just so I can double up and avoid having to go for long runs everyday. I got to the park today (at around 5:50am) only to find the gate closed! I have never noticed that gate (because it is never closed) and had forgotten how much impact your legs take when running on roads ... Apparently someone came to the park yesterday to do some assesment and deemed it unsafe. Now, I guess they dont open till 8am and probably close at 7pm (I dont know the exact times) but it was still closed at 6:45 when I ran by again) ... only because of some isolated incident. If you plan on going there really early or later in the day, keep this in mind.

Was I able to run in the park? Heck yea, they didnt close the other 10 entrances ... I am sure they all have gates that I havent seen yet.

Baltimore officials closed the footbridge at Robert E. Lee Park yesterday because the bridge is about to collapse. No word when it will be reopened.

I was there Wednesday afternoon. There appears to be a runner-sized hole in the corner of the gate . . .
