"Purple Athlete of the Week"

I got a chance to go watch the Columbia triathlon today. The weather was awesome for both the spectators (except me of course) and the athletes. That, in addition to presence of world class athletes ensured that the record books were re-written ... both the men's and the women's record were destroyed!

I will leave the rest of the story telling to Ryan.

I just wanted to say that Ryan McGrath deserves the "Purple Athlete of the Week" a.k.a Purple Drink Athlete of the Week award due to his performance at the Columbia Triathlon. A 22:23 swim, 1:04:44 bike, 38:17 run, ( with 3:18 transition time) gave him an overall time of 2:08:40 beating his previous best (2:17:xx) at this course by some 9 minutes! Congratulations sir.

Oh yea, I called it Purple Athlete of the Week because he was actually turning purple after the race ... stop drinking purple drink son, drink grape JUICE!

Thanks Kip, I begrudgingly accept this award, as I haven't gotten full results from the weekend in, and largely because I don't want it be like the Sports Illustrated jinx and F me up for Eagleman. But thanks. And thanks for waking your black ass up real early on a Sunday and spending half the day with me. I appreciate it!

Earlier this week, you said I couldnt spear you because you do lots of really nice things to me. Well, it was my chance to make it up to you, so I can reserve my rights to spear you in the future.

You kicked ass man, awesome job.

I did check out some quick results to see what was out there, but I gave up after about 5 mins of search.

Yeah results still aren't up, I am annoyed as I would like to look at them tonight, but I'm sure they'll be up tomorrow. I want to see how it all shook out placement wise in the end.

Yeah, son! You MUST be in good shape to be killin' it like that. Make sure you guys get a video of it when Kip spears Elf.

Ah but crap, OJ snuck in there. How does he swim so fast? Still, a huge PR, Well done.

Jake, always raining down on the fucking parade. But yeah, I was really surprised to finish and see he had already finished. He got me by 1:24, so if you take away the 5:30 he put into me in the water (less than I anticipated thanks to a faster than anticipated swim for me) it's not even a race. Unfortunately we can't do that, so...

He swims so fast because a) he's been swimming for a long time and b) he swims hard all the time. Still, it's an amazing time, and he beats most of the pros.
